EXPERIENCE

December 2001 to present Employed by the Department of Mental Health County of Los Angeles as a Consultant Physician and the Children's Court Pediatrician working with the Juvenile Court Mental Health Services team, review cases presented by the children's attorneys with questions concerning neglect, physical, sexual and mental abuse, as well as complications affecting general health and issues of possible malpractice and personal injury. The population of children within the Juvenile court system is over 50,000. I also review requests sent to the Court to place foster children on psychotropic medications and I offer medical opinions to a team that helps the courts decide between delinquency and dependency adjudication authority based on assessments of rehabilitation potential.

November 2001 to 2002 Worked one day a week in a clinical setting where I provide psychotropic Medication management, Pediatric counseling to parents and consultations to Psychiatrists The Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic employed me to providing therapy and medication management to an inner city population of children with high mental and physical health needs and to assist with diagnosis of physical causes of mental health conditions.

October 2001 to 2002 I consulted for California Children's Services in Medical Treatment Units (MTU's) where I devised case management plans for severely handicapped students. The case plan involved referrals, nutrition plans social services and rehabilitation programs

1998 - 2001 My private practice focus was establishing a treatment project for foster children in the Los Angeles County Area. Teams with a physician, physician assistants and medical assistants make house calls to foster homes to provide needed services and to evaluate the effectiveness of health care procedures, referrals, record requests as well as providing environmental and developmental assessments and nutritional counseling. The full scope of Pediatric services is provided. Direct clinical care in the home assures foster parent cooperation and the safety of the foster child. Other responsibilities included reviewing the effectiveness of interventions such as psychological therapy on behavioral issues by monitoring target behaviors that effect the stability of the placement, the ability of the child to learn at school and to participate in extracurricular programs. These clinical decisions are part of the physician's responsibilities to manage the health care needs of this population including monitoring psychotropic agents for dosages adjustments, side effects, and risk benefit decisions.
