R.B and E.S. Expert 1656 investigated the influence of corticosteroids on collagen synthesis, in cultured human fetal lung fibroblasts and alveolar type II cells. Techniques utilized include slab gel electrophoresis, ion-exchange chromatography and cell culture

This assignment involved a collaborative arrangement between the ECM and the Pathology Department at SLR Hospital Center. Expert 1656 responsibilities included the establishment of the cell culture facilities and the investigation of the role of pneumocyte regeneration following toxic insult. A full-time EM technician was assigned to expert 1656 during the progress of these experiments.
